About Us
The Florida Wrestling Room is a concept that was created and started by me, Ricky Marcus. In 2015, I created The Florida Wrestling Room and turned it into a group page on the Facebook platform so the wrestling community in the state of Florida had one place to go for all of their information when it came to wrestling in our state. There was nothing available at the time and the newspapers would offer minimal coverage and most of the time no coverage of wrestling at all. The Florida Wrestling Room Facebook group was well received and quickly grew into the #1 source of information for wrestling in our state. Today we have just about 25,000 TFWR members on Facebook and continue to grow each day. The Florida Wrestling Room is the #1 platform for wrestling in the state. My goal was to take TFWR and create something very special for the wrestling community. From the beginning, I would refer to our members as the TFWR Family and I continue using that term today. It has caught on like wildfire and the TFWR lifestyle has been adopted by so many people in the wrestling community. You'll see it everywhere, kids from different school helping each other get to tournaments or training centers. Parents from different areas coming together to help each other get their kids to camps, tournaments and practices at different locations. The TFWR Family lifestyle is about being there for each other no matter what school, club or training center you belong to. This is not just happening on the mat either. TFWR has helped the wrestling community in many ways, from raising funds for those in need to promoting and supporting events such as the recent NWHOF Florida Chapter HOF Induction Banquet. TFWR has been giving back since 2015. When families in the wrestling community were affected by past hurricanes ,TFWR was there to supply food and water from collections we put together at Osceola HS during a big tournament. In December of 2017 TFWR collected $2500 in Publix gift cards and we blessed 6 families in our wrestling community who were struggling, to make sure they had a nice Christmas. The list goes on but the point is TFWR is about giving back to the community to show appreciation for what this sport has done for me and my family.
The TFWR Facebook group page is fantastic but I am limited as to what I can offer on a Facebook group page. After much thought and some slight prodding by my wife Lori Marcus, I made the decision to take The Florida Wrestling Room to the next level! As a former wrestler who has competed at the youth, high school and college levels, my love for the sport and the desire to give back to the wrestling community cannot be contained by a Facebook group page. After consulting with my wife and a few close trusted friends, I decided to have a website designed and built by a profesional web designer to give the Florida wrestling community something they have never had but definitely deserve. This website offers everything a wrestler, coach, parent or fan of the sport could ever ask for and then some. The Florida Wrestling Room is the only website in the state covering all levels of wrestling from youth and high school and now even college wrestling, as we have three colleges in our state who compete in the NAIA.
The Florida Wrestling Room is so much more than a source of information. It has become a big wrestling family. On any given weekend you can attend a wrestling tournament somewhere in the state and you'll hear people talking about The Florida Wrestling Room. It is my passion and I am happy to bring this incredible website to the great people of the Florida wrestling community!
