Florida Grapplers bring the Super 32 Belts home to Florida

The 2022 Super 32 in Greensboro, North Carolina has come and gone and a few Florida studs found success and came home with some nice hardware. Elijah Castanon 85 pounds of the Miami WC and Kolton Smith 45 pounds of the Florida Scorpions brought home the championship belts. These two youth wrestlers are the future of Florida wrestling and continue to prove why they are regarded as the best of the best. They not only place and win at other national tournaments but they are dominating while doing it. There is no doubt these two will be extremely successful high school wrestlers once they get there!

In addition to the two champs, a few other Florida grapplers made the podium as well. Sebastian Degennaro, a state champion from Jensen Beach HS placed 3rd in the HS 113 pound division. His only loss was to the eventual champion Bo Bassett of Pennsylvania. Cooper Haase, a state champion from Osceola HS placed 4th in a very loaded 145 pound division. Cooper knocked off the #1 seed, and UWW U17 Greco World Champion Joel Adams!!  Joe Sealy of Lake Highland Prep placed 3rd at 160 pounds and his only loss was to the eventual champion Joey Blaze on a last second takedown. What a heartbreaker.  Countryside High School’s state champion Brian Burburija placed 6th at 195 pounds and solidified why he is regarded as one of Florida’s best. Last but certainly not least we have two of 3A’s top ranked heavyweights with Austin Foye of Palmetto Ridge HS placing 5th. He pinned his opponent in the match for 5th and 6th which proves he was not just happy to be there and place, he wanted to place as high up on that podium as possible. I’m sure Coach Blaine Ison is mighty proud. Nelson Toro of Harmony HS moved up to 285 and came home with an 8th place finish which was good for a Super 32 All-American status.  The Florida Wrestling Room and all of Florida is very proud of all the wrestlers from our state who made the trip to Greensboro to represent our state and especially to the ones who brought home the hardware and will forever be known as Super 32 All-Americans!!!
