Well, the girls of Florida have definitely started to make a name for themselves. In past years if you were talking about nationally competitive girls the state of Florida wasn’t really heard too much. But that was then and this is now. In just two years of being a sanctioned sport by the FHSAA, Florida has 16 girls who are in the national rankings as of 10/12/2023. Florida has several others who are ranked but who moved out of state to different prep/private schools.

With more and more elite girls clubs popping up around the state our girls are wrestling all year round which will most likely lead to more girls showing up in future national rankings. We have clubs such as Beebe Trained, Phoenix WC and a few more with elite level coaching for our girls to take advantage of. Also, the girls are wrestling a lot of freestyle in the off season and they are going to Fargo where they have made some serious noise this summer. Keep your eye on the above listed girls but also some who are not currently ranked at the national level but are good enough to crack the rankings very soon. Girls like Kiki Bush from Hudson HS, Emma Bauknight from Hernando HS, Jennah Mustafa from Lake Wales HS, Jazlyn Diaz from Riverdale HS, Sophia Ferran from Mater Lakes, Arianna Ruiz from Mater Lakes, Aurora Guadiana from Wellington HS, Abby Dicenzo from Bell Creek Academy, Juliana Caisse from Palm harbor University, Gabby Caro from Stoneman-Douglas HS, Callie Alfieri from Gulf HS, Bry Kaminsky from Orange City University, Tiana Fries from Matanzas, Ailee Briggs from Lemon Bay HS, Katherine Stewart from Bartram Trail, Jayla Harrison from Oakleaf HS, Lainey Driggett from Merritt Island, and Jada Jones from Apopka HS.
