When you think 135 you hear some names who are talked about quite frequently but a name everyone needs to really be paying attention to is BRY KAMINSKY. Why you ask? Well last season she finished with a 36-5 record. She placed 7th at the state championships as a sophomore but last season she missed out on going to the state tourney. How is that possible you ask? Well, she was wrestling Brielle Bibla in the Region semi-finals and was winning 7-3 and Bibla hit her with a head and arm, the great equalizer. Bry battled hard but wasnt able to pull it off and lost the semi’s 8-7 to Bibla. Then she ran into another buzz saw Ana Vilar and lost 3-2 and just like that her dream was shattered. When you only lose to three girls the entire season and don’t get to go to the state tourney , it lights a fire that many people don’t realize how strong that fire can be.
Bry decided that wasn’t going to happen and vowed to herself and her coach that she would win a state title this year. How does she plan on doing that? Well, when you work the entire off-season with Kenny Courts of Ohio State and Mitch Clark it’s hard to not believe her when she says she’s going to win a state title. Bry also competed at the Super 32 qualifier where she placed 1st in Freestyle and 2nd in Folkstyle.
I am told that she is a total gem on the mat and brings energy and happiness to everyone she is around. She has amazing grit and calmness under pressure and that will serve her well in her quest for that elusive state title. So watch out for Bry Kaminsky as she is putting everyone on notice that she’s coming for that state title.
