Triangle WC – Mount Dora

When you think of Mount Dora, Florida your first thought most likely would not be wrestling. Maybe you would think of a quiet town with a lot of antique shops, lakes and a lot of Florida history. But a few years ago many wrestling enthusiasts decided they would try and change that. Parents and local coaches wanted the opportunity for their kids to have a wrestling program to call their own. They wanted the opportunity for their kids to win state titles in high school. That would not be possible, as Mount Dora had no wrestling program, until now!

This year will be only their 3rd year as a wrestling program at Mount Dora HS and they’ve already seen some success at the state level and Mount Dora already has a few of their Varsity wrestlers who have cracked the FloridaWrestlingRoom.com state rankings. It wasn’t easy but Triangle WC coaches Rene Soto, Taylor Jackson, Anthony Torres, wrestlers and parents all fought very hard to get a program in to one of the local high schools. They were losing hope they would not get to wrestle local and bring high school wrestling to their hometown. Finally Mount Dora High School gave them a program ( High school coach David Kemmy) and a home for Triangle WC youth program. I am told they all feel very blessed thanks to Principal Straughan and administration!

Triangle has produced many studs that have done big things throughout the years just never got to shine inĀ  their home town schools. Joey Silva, Bryce Rodgers, Taylor Jackson , Colton Jackson, Seth Brown, just to name a few. Many state and even some national titles were won just by those guys alone. They set the bar very high for future Triangle and Mt. Dora HS wrestlers but the current kids from Triangle are up for the challenge. Guys like Anthony Dawson who is currently ranked #9 at 175 pounds by TFWR and Russell Fickett ranked #10 at 215 will lead Mt Dora this season. But they also have some incoming freshman who hope to make some noise as well and help carry Mt Dora as far as they can go. Kids such as Cannon Sommer have been busting his tail all summer to be able to step in and help his team. Triangle will serve as a feeder program for the high school and 9th grader Brody Jecovich will continue to train hard and get himself ready for this year when hits the Mt Dora halls as a freshman. Others who are planning on making a difference for Mount Dora are Colton Fickett 10th grade and Brayden Brown 11th, so the future looks very bright for Mt Dora with all of these great future up and comers!!!
