Hall Of Fame Coach Allen Held [Cypress BAD Bay]

In the early 80s, I was coaching a youth team in Hallandale, The Brotherhood Wrestling club. During one
of the tournaments, I met Shelly Marcus who was coaching his son Ricky. This started a lifetime
friendship with the Marcus family. I started coaching as an assistant at South Broward and followed
Rickys high school career. Years later, we reconnected when our sons wrestled in high school during the
same time period. We bonded as families and rooted for each others family. Shelly and I had many
conversations about wrestling and family! What could be better than that! Since then I have dealt with
Ricky as a professional and happy to be able to call him a friend. Ricky’s passion for wrestling is amazing.
Ricky has stated for years that he wants to be involved to elevate Florida wrestling. Ricky has tried
different routes. We all know Ricky got it right with The Florida Wrestling Room. A room that has
united Florida wrestling. The wrestling community needed this badly and Ricky came through big time.
Like a great wrestler who is never satisfied, Ricky is ready for the next challenge. I cannot wait
personally to see this new website. As a wrestling fanatic, long time coach I thank Ricky and his family
for their contributions to the wrestling community. The best part is the best is yet to come.
